Safety Signs

The catering industry is one where the proper display of safety signs is critical for the protection of both employees and customers. For this purpose there are several categories that should be always be utilized. The first is concerning fire, and these posters should identify the location of all fire exits, where the fire extinguishers are, and how to use them. They should also explain where the fire alarm buttons are hung and what to do if the alarm goes off. The next category of safety signs is for natural gas and liquid gas. These should denote the presence of the particular gas and include the symbols for no naked flames and no smoking. The main isolation valves should be clearly identified so that they can be shut off in case of fire. Another category of safety signs is that warning of dangerous chemicals especially those for cleaning cooking appliances which can be very abrasive. These signs can list the presence of the type of chemical as well as others for where there are eye washers and sinks nearby in case of emergency. Perhaps the most common of all restaurant and fast food safety signs is the one warning of slippery, wet floors which can be accompanied by some kind of barrier when necessary. In addition to all of these, there should also be other required safety signs showing where the first aid kit is located and often one reminding employees to wash their hands after using the restrooms.
